Six individuals were arrested Tuesday after police caught them playing ‘tong-its,’ an illegal card game, in Barangay Tabucan, located in Iloilo City’s Mandurriao district.

Authorities identified the arrested as Leonardo Ojanola, Leonardo Peñasales, Roldan Mercado, Luciano Cabarga, Jovani Salavaria, and Cornelio Ramos, all of the said neighborhood.

The group was arrested at 2:10 p.m. with police confiscating two sets of playing cards and bet money amounting to P710.

The six are currently detained at the Mandurriao Police Station and face charges in violation of RA 9287, an amendment to Presidential Decree 1602, which implemented penalties on illegal gambling./WDJ
