In response to an appeal by Negros Occidental provincial administrator, Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, calling on corporations to cooperate with ongoing measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease, of Covid-19, Vallacar Transit Inc., operator of the Ceres bus liner, released a statement announcing the company would no longer service inter-provincial routes including trips to Dumaguete City from Bacolod City, San Carlos City, Kabankalan City, and Hinoba-an.
However, the statement added, trips within the provinces of Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Cebu, and the four provinces of Panay island will continue.
After Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson ordered the closure of the province’s borders, ports, and airports until April 14, Diaz said, “All corporations have corporate social responsibility.”
“These measures are not just for us but for all,” the provincial official added. “It’s now time to prioritize something other than health; it’s time to prioritize our health and safety, and the lives of our people.”/DGB, WDJ
