With the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup currently suspended due to ongoing concerns surrounding the coronavirus diesease, or Covid-19, PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial said the league may resume in May.
During a radio interview over the weekend, he noted, “Hindi naman kami kaagad maglalaro, bibigyan namin sila ng one or two more weeks to practice bago tayo magsimula (We do not plan to play immediately, we will give the players one or two weeks of practice before we restart the season).”
He added, they will “assess the situation” once the community quarantine over Metro manila concludes on April 14.
Meanwhile, Marcial pointed out the safety precautions the league has taken.
“Hindi natin alam baka mamaya meron sa kanila na carrier (We don’t know if, later one, a player will contract the virus)” he explained. “Mas maganda muna na pinatigil muna natin lahat ng practices (It is was better to put an end to practices).”
The commissioner added, during practices, there are often 30 to 40 people gathered at one time, including players, coaches, among others./ASC, WDJ
