Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas revealed he has requested the Sangguniang Panlungsod to have an ordinance prepared in the event a curfew becomes necessary in the city. He explained, such a measure would be imposed if the number of persons under monitoring or patients under investigation for the coronavirus disease, of Covid-19, increases significantly or if there is a confirmed case in the city.
The mayor noted such a move is not necessary since, based on recent data from the Department of Health-Region VI, the city currently has 150 under monitoring and nine under investigation.
However, he does plan on issuing an order cutting hours for bars and malls, with the former limited to operating until 8:00 p.m. and the latter required to run from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily.
Treñas called for cooperation from the public.
“These are extraordinary times and, during [these] times, we have to be ready to go through extraordinary measures,” the mayor stressed./WDJ
