Around 894 passengers of a ferry originating from Manila were placed under monitoring for the coronavirus disease, or Covid-19, and quarantined over the weekend following their arrival at Bacolod City’s Bredco Port. Philippine Coast Guard-Negros Occidental chief, Lt. Commander Jansen Benjamin, said the passengers in question were immediately met by their personnel, along with health officials.
The passengers were ordered to complete a health declaration card and immediately ordered to go on a 14-day self-quarantine in their respective homes.
Benjamin also said, despite the Covid-19 threat, operations at the Bredco Port remain normal.
He added, based on directives from President Rodrigo Duterte, only those coming in or out of Metro Manila are affected by the community quarantine since the suspension covers domestic travel by land, air, and sea./DGB, WDJ
