A meeting of the House of Representatives Special Committee on Persons with Disabilities convened recently to discuss compliance to laws pertaining to the disabled community, transportation accessibility, and equal opportunity employment.
The meeting, which was chaired by Negros Occidental fifth district Rep. Marilou Arroyo, also looked at amending laws that no longer “appropriately address” issues facing the disabled community.
“Every meeting is a step forward to our goal of crafting and overseeing effective laws for persons with disabilities,” the legislator said.
Once the session resumes in May, the committee will begin deliberations on 34 house bills and one resolution./DGB, WDJ
