Following the confirmation of a coronavirus disease, or Covid-19, case in Negros Oriental, Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson called for calm.
“As of this time, I [can] confirm, in Negros Occidental, we have no cases of Covid-19,” the governor affirmed. “Don’t panic and use your common sense.”
He also acknowledged a possible case in the province, which has since been resolved.
“Recently, we have picked up a patient in Victorias City,” Lacson said. “We were relieved after [they tested] negative for Covid-19.”
Meanwhile, he also announced the provincial government will begin distributing forehead thermometers to be used at local seaports and airports after the provincial government yesterday received an initial delivery of 80 units out of a total 170 units ordered.
In addition, personal protective equipment will also be distributed.
The governor also pointed out, there is no need to declare a state of health emergency in the province after President Rodrigo Duterte earlier made a national declaration./DGB, WDJ
