After the EB Magalona Municipal Health Office recently downgraded a local patient under investigation for the coronavirus disease, or Covid-19, to being under monitoring, Mayor Marvin Malacon assured local residents that there is nothing to worry about as the municipal government is “doing its best” to implement preventive measures against the spread of the virus.
He added, the town is prepared and equipped with protective gear and other necessities.
Municipal health officer, Dr. Frayne Marie Tampus, said it was the discretion of the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital to downgrade the patient’s status. They added, the municipal government will also extend food assistance to the patient’s family, who have been placed on home quarantine.
Municipal health office investigations showed the patient had already felt ill before interacting with Japanese students, who visited the town last week for immersion activities.
Tampus said the patient exhibited flu-like symptoms last week and had consultation with the municipal health center, along with a private clinic in Victorias City.
She added, the clinic recommended classifying the patient as “under investigation” after they experienced a fever, cough, and difficulty in breathing./DGB, WDJ
