Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agents conducted a surprise shakedown, referred to as a “greyhound operation,” yesterday morning at the San Carlos City District Jail.
During the operation, inmates were ordered out of their cells as PDEA and BJMP personnel conducted a search.
A K9 Interdiction Unit was also deployed to search for illegal drugs and other contraband.
Meanwhile, random drug testing was also conducted for 55 male and 10 female detainees. The nine BJMP personnel manning the jail facility were also subject to testing.
No drugs were found during the inspections.
In addition, none of the inmates nor BJMP personnel tested positive for drugs./DGB, WDJ
