Tremor shakes Sipalay City

Three earthquakes were recorded Sunday morning in Cauayan. The first quake, which measured 2.6 in magnitude, struck at 4:51 a.m. The second incident, a 2.5-magnitude tremor, struck at 10:21 a.m.; which was followed less than 30 minutes later by a 3.5-magnitude earthquake.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, no damages were recorded as a result of the seismic activity nor were there any anticipated aftershocks.
Earlier this year, a 3.4-magnitude earthquake was felt near Cauayan.
Meanwhile, a 2.0-magnitude earthquake was also detected Saturday morning in Sipalay City.
Earthquakes that range between 3.0 and 3.9 in magnitude are considered between a Level II and III on the Mercalli Intensity Scale, where a few people feel the tremor, particularly those on the upper floors of buildings; while quakes ranging between 1.0 and 3.0 in magnitude are often classified as a Level 1, where the tremor goes almost undetected./WDJ
