The Negros Occidental Provincial Veterinary Office recently received two vehicles for the emergency transport of livestock from disaster-affected areas. The project, which cost P2,270,000 and sourced from the 2019 Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund, was turned over by Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson.
According to the provincial office, “It will strengthen the implementation of the existing disaster preparedness, risk reduction and response, and climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies.”
They added, the equipment will allow emergency responders to “act or respond promptly in cases of any impending or actual disaster.”
In addition, the vehicles will also be used to deliver medicine and supplies, among other duties./WDJ
