In response to concerns raised by Iloilo City Liga ng mga Barangay President Irene Ong, who sits on the City Council, surrounding Philippine National Police vehicles impeding their road-clearing efforts, Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) director, Police Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, issued a directive yesterday to inform his personnel that parking along public roads is prohibited.
According to the city official, road-clearing operations have been particularly difficult in Barangay Veterans, located in the City Proper district, due to police vehicles parked along the road.
“Tayo dapat ang unang sumunod sa mga ipinapatupad ng Department of the Interior and Local Government (We are supposed to be the first to follow what the DILG implements),” the PRO-6 chief stated.
Pamuspusan called on barangay officials and traffic enforcers to issue citations even if the vehicle is owned by a police officer.
He also assured police will give their full cooperation on the matter and threatened charges against those who refuse to comply./WDJ
