FEU set the tone early with an 8-3 edge following a hit by Ivana Agudo. Their lead further grew to 16-4 and resulted with an easy first set triumph.
Into the second set, UE kept pace with their opponents, down 16-14; however, hits from Czarina Carandang and Zen Perolino gave FEU a 2-0 set edge.
FEU were slow at the start of the third, trailing 11-9, but Cayuna and Jeanette Villareal gave FEU the upperhand, with the former closing the match with two service aces.
On the men’s side, FEU scored a 25-10, 25-22, 25-23 win over UE. JJ Javelona, a rookie from FEU’s high school program, spearheaded the charge with 11 points; followed by Peter Quiel contributing 10; and Jude Garcia adding nine./ASC, WDJ
