Aston Palicte of Bago City snapped his two-fight losing streak after knocking out Jonathan Francisco over the weekend at the Lagao Gym in General Santos City. The Negrense fighter came into the fight after two consecutive losses, falling via unanimous decision to Filipino boxer Renz Rosia and losing a World Boxing Organization title fight to Kazuto Ioka of Japan.
Palicte initially targeted Francisco’s head before pounding his body and eventually sending his opponent to the mat; however, the latter managed to beat the referee’s count. After the fight resumed, the Negrense fighter did not let up and continued to land punches until his opponent surrendered before the start of the second round.
Following the win, the Bago City native improved to a 26-4-1 win-loss-draw record, including 22 stoppage victories; while Francisco slid to a 10-15-1 record with four knockout wins.
Meanwhile, Bacolodnon boxer Rolando Servania continued his unbeaten run following a unanimous decision victory over Reymond Empic of Cebu.
The Bacolod City native maintained his unbeaten record of 11-0-0, with five stoppage victories; while his opponent dropped to a 7-5-0 record with three knockout wins./ASC, WDJ
