The coronavirus disease, or Covid-19, has seriously affected the tourism industry, especially in the ASEAN region. Despite the Philippines not being hit as hard as countries like China and South Korea, airlines have been affected and are faced with the challenge of how to maintain operations.
Sone airlines have offered lower fares, which should attract those who are unaffected by Covid-19. Similarly, hotels and resorts should also offer attractive rates.
Filipino travelers, in particular, are expected to fly to other countries with cheaper hotel rates.
The Western Visayas offers several historical attractions, beaches, adventures, culinary experiences, shopping, and more. The “Experience Western Visayas First” promotional campaign by the Department of Tourism-Region VI looks to attract visitors to the regions beaches and to try the local cuisine.
