Two individuals were arrested for drugs over the weekend in Pavia’s Barangay Aganan. Authorities identified the suspects as 35-year-old Jerson Agustin of the said neighborhood and 23-year-old Erwin Lucero of the town’s Barangay Ungka I.
Police made the arrest after they were sold shabu for P1,500. Following a subsequent search, law enforcement personnel recovered another eight sachets of shabu, along with the buy-bust items.
The two faces charges in violation of RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Recently, the remains of Nathan Serudo, a Pavia resident, were found by local residents in an empty lot in Bacolod City’s Barangay Cabug.
Police Station 9 commander, Police Captain Jonito Pastrana, said, based on information received from their counterparts in Iloilo, the individual in question was considered a “notorious high-value drug target.”
Initial examinations revealed Serudo had been hogtied and shot multiple times.
Law enforcement officials recovered several empty 9mm and .45 caliber shells from the crime scene.
In addition, joint elements of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) and the Pavia Municipal Police Station conducted an earlier bust near the GT Town Center in Pavia, located in the town’s Barangay Ungka 2.
Arrested in the operation were 42-year-old Jennifer Nosotros and her son, 20-year-old John Rey Nosotros, both residents of Barangay Buntalala in Iloilo City’s Jaro district, who were nabbed after transacting with an undercover police officer for P75,000 worth of shabu.
A subsequent search yielded 420 grams of suspected shabu with a value of P6.3 million.
IPPO director, Police Colonel Roland Vilela, said the haul is the largest in Iloilo this year and believes the illicit substance may have been sourced from the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City. Further validation found the elder Nosotros is the sister of a certain Joven Abantao, who is currently detained at the jail./WDJ
