The body of a man was found floating in a river yesterday under the Tumagbok Bridge in Miag-ao’s Barangay Baybay Norte. Authorities identified the fatality as 21-year-old Kiven Christian Soriano of the town’s Barangay Guibungan.
Miag-ao Police Precinct chief, Police Captain Josevito Bose, said the remains were found with an injury to the forehead and multiple stab wounds across his body.
Three suspects, Rene Boy Suspeno and Renesto Suspeno of the town’s Barangay Dalihi, along with a 16-year-old minor identified as “Franco” of the municipality’s Barangay Fundacion, admitted to killing the victim and were subsequently arrested.
The suspects and the victim worked at the Miag-ao Public Market.
Bose said, prior to the incident, the suspects and the victim were seen in a nipa hut around 11:00 p.m. drinking and, the following morning, the victim’s remains were discovered.
The police official said the incident occurred due to a misunderstanding while they were inebriated.
According to Renesto Suspeno, a disagreement occurred after the victim reportedly ate all their food. He was subsequently struck in the head with a hard object, stabbed, and placed inside a sack.
“I consider this case closed because the suspects were arrested and admitted [to] the crime,” Bose affirmed.
