The Bayawan City police chief was sacked over the weekend following a string of unsolved murder cases in the city. Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOrPPO) director, Police Colonel Julian Entoma, said Police Lt. Colonel Alfonso Enrique has been relieved from his post and will be replaced by Police Lt. Colonel Jodimar Bonilla.
Entoma said he originally wanted to remove all 56 police personnel in the city but Police Regional Office-7 (PRO-7) director, Police Brigadier General Albert Ignatius Ferro, only approved Enrique’s removal.
The NOrPPO official said, from January of this year, they have already recorded seven murder incidents in the city, including the murder of City Councilor Alex Tison, who was shot by riding-in-tandem suspects last week.
Entoma added, the city’s police force has a 30 percent crime solution and efficiency rate./DGB, WDJ
