Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday expressed optimism on attaining “100 percent cooperation” from all the province’s localities in the upcoming Panaad sa Negros Festival, which is scheduled to take place from April 20 to 26 at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City’s Barangay Mansilingan.
“Every year, we expect all the local government units (LGUs) in Negros to join,” the governor said.
Previously, some localities did not participate due to funding issues or conflicting schedules.
“We are hoping that this year we will have good cooperation from LGUs,” he added.
Meanwhile, Lacson said he remains “hopeful” the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) will not affect the festival. He also cited health officials, who recommended the county “prepare” since the virus can be transmitted human-to-human or through local transmission.
“It’s just a warning to keep us vigilant,” the governor noted. “I am hoping it will not happen.”
During their regular session last Tuesday, the Provincial Board approved financial assistance of P200,000 for each of the province’s 12 cities and 19 municipalities for the repair and renovation of their respective pavilions./DGB, WDJ
