Kaya FC-Iloilo begins their 2020 AFC Cup against 2019 Myanmar National League champions Shan United this afternoon. The match kicks off at 5:00 p.m. (PHT) at the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar. With the recent addition of new players and coaches, Kaya FC assistant coach Yu Hoshide expressed optimism for this campaign.
“I have a strong feeling that we’ll be a better club—better than we were in the past few years,” the assistant coach said. “This group hasn’t played this level of competition yet but, now, we have a chance to show what we’ve been doing in training.”
“We’re only thinking about the win—not relaxing or enjoying,” he added. “We’re focused on winning; that winning mentality is important for us.”
The Iloilo City-based squad recently acquired defenders Carlyle Mitchell and Marco Casambre, and strikers Daizo Horikoshi and Roberto Corsame. Meanwhile, Oliver Colina succeeded Noel Marcaida as head coach and Rolando Cabañiero was named the new goalkeeping coach.
The match will air live on Fox Sports 2./ASC, WDJ
