An intoxicated man was arrested last Sunday in Janiuay’s Barangay Damo-ong for possession of a hand grenade. Authorities identified the suspect as 38-year-old Joel Tabares of the town’s Barangay Tambal.
The suspect was arrested at 2:00 p.m. after his wife called police for assistance as her husband was causing a commotion with the incendiary device.
Police recovered one grenade from the suspect, who now faces charges in violation of RA 9516, an amendment to Presidential Decree No. 1866, which set the laws on the unlawful possession of firearms or explosives./WDJ
