Negros Occidental affirms no nCoV cases in the province

After it was revealed the confirmed novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) patient, who is currently confined at a hospital in Manila, visited both Dumaguete City and Dauin in Negros Oriental, border monitoring between the Negros provinces have been stepped up.
In addition, surveillance monitoring at the province’s points of entry have also been strengthened for those originating from areas currently affected by the virus.
Meanwhile, Negros Occidental Provincial Health Office head, Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, affirmed there are no confirmed nCoV cases in the province nor are there patients being monitored.
He added, Department of Health-Region VI personnel conducted a meeting yesterday to formulate plans and make recommendations to prevent the virus from entering the region.
Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson also urged local residents to remain calm and encouraged the public to go about with their daily routine.
The governor also said the national government assured the provincial government they are on top of the situation and local health offices, along with provincial and district hospitals, have already been notified on how to treat patients with flu-like symptoms./DGB, WDJ
