The Department of Health-Region VI (DOH-6) assured Bacolod City residents that they have nothing to be alarmed about in relation to the new coronavirus strain (CoV). According to Ben Arnel Dela Cruz of the DOH-6 Development Management Office, “Bacolod City has nothing to worry about [regarding] the ongoing issue of [the] coronavirus.
“We have no case—even surveillance,” he added.
However, the DOH-6 official affirmed surveillance is being strengthened across the region, particularly with the Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ), and said visitors from mainland China will undergo a screening process.
“If they go to Bacolod, BOQ–Manila will inform BOQ–Bacolod to conduct surveillance of that person,” Dela Cruz explained.
Meanwhile, City Health Officer Ma. Carmela Gensoli said CoV is related to the common cold but, in its severe form, can cause pneumonia.
She said symptoms include colds, headache, fever, fatigue, sore throat, and chills, and, if a patient exhibits such symptoms and recently visited mainland China, they should seek immediate medical attention./DGB, WDJ
