In response to a Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) report that found over 75 percent of the total number of high-value drug targets in the region are in Bacolod City and across Negros Occidental, Negros Occidental Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer, who is currently serving as acting governor, urged the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) to intensify their campaign against illegal drugs in the province.
He acknowledged the local drug problem as “a big problem” and made reference to “recent operations that seized big volumes of illegal drugs.”
“It [would be] better if they can track down who brings in the big volumes and arrest them,” Ferrer added. “[Police know] who are these drug personalities, especially in Bacolod.”
In a report released last week, PRO-6 found, out of the current 105 targets, 50 are said to be located within Negros Occidental, along with 32 in Bacolod City.
Following Bacolod City in terms of the current high-value drug targets at large, 11 are in Capiz, along with four in Capiz./DGB, WDJ
