Diocese of Bacolod seeking donations

Negros Occidental Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer, who is currently serving as acting governor, said the province is ready to provide assistance to the victims of the Taal volcanic eruption in Batangas. He said the province has been “fully active in providing assistance to various parts of the country [that] were affected by natural disasters.”
The provincial official pointed out, “[It is] better that the province is the one helping and not the one that is being helped.”
Meanwhile, the Diocese of Bacolod also released a statement on social media seeking donations for victims of the eruption.
In a post on Adsum, the diocese’s official social media page, Bacolod Bishop Patricio Buzon called on the faithful to pray and extend help to those affected.
“In times of calamities, let us be one with those affected,” the post read.
Adsum added, the faithful may send donations to the Diocesan Social Action Office at the Bishop’s Palace.
Earlier, Bacolod City Mayor Mayor Evelio Leonardia pledged to provide financial assistance to areas affected by last Saturday’s eruption of the Taal Volcano. He explained, the donation will be sourced from the city’s disaster fund.
The mayor said they will identify the affected areas following a City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office assessment./DGB, WDJ
