Police: Victim may have been raped

The remains of a 14-year-old were found in an advanced state of decomposition early yesterday morning at Hacienda Phoenix in Bago City’s Barangay Binubohan. Police identified the fatality as Jemiah Rose Oliveros, a resident of La Carlota City’s Barangay Ara-al.
Based on initial investigations by Bago City police, the victim was told to visit the home of Jessie Buenabeles to retrieve her father’s mobile phone on New Year’s Day but failed to return home.
An initial probe revealed the victim’s body may have been dumped in the area.
Authorities also presume she may have been raped as her underwear was discovered beside her remains.
Police are now conducting a follow-up investigation./DGB, WDJ
