There are many who deserve to be commended for public service. They are the ones who should be emulated in order for government to be elevated to a level that is acceptable to the public. I know a lot of government employees-some are retired while others remain in service-and their values and attitudes should be recognized. Aside from staying true to their mandate, their values and superb and excellent.
However, there are “bad eggs.”
The government’s “8888” hotline is often receives reports about ill-mannered government employees. While the hotline is also used to validate those complying by protocol, the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte still employs workers that must be punished for malfeasance.
Some government workers abuse their work time; such as, after clocking-in, they go elsewhere and only return to clock-out for lunch. These individuals must remember, they are paid by the taxpayers. Their actions are contributing to the government’s poor image. Additionally, those who are rude to clientele-acting as if they own the agency and are permitted to do whatever they want-must not forget their paychecks are funded by those approaching their desks seeking assistance.
It is high time for those in the higher ranks to take charge of their respective offices and issue memorandum to those violating policies and extend to them appropriate punishment or have them fired. They do not deserve their position and should experience the consequences of their actions. If such behavior is tolerated, then the entire organization is free to commit offenses, which will result in an office full of bad eggs./WDJ
