A back rider who alighted to look for his cellphone was sideswiped by another motorcycle following them around 11:10 p.m. on Wednesday along the national road of Purok Masinadyahon in the city’s Barangay Maquiling.

Police identified the victim as Rubin Bolido, 59, married of Purok Kalubihan in the city’s Barangay Bato. He sustained injuries on his body and was brought to Alfredo Marañon Sr. District Hospital. He was later transferred to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital but was declared dead-on-arrival by attending physician.

He was aboard a motorcycle driven by James Uzi Patiduan, 30, single, and resident of Barangay Maquiling. They are running from Calatrava town’s Barangay Marcelo to the city’s Barangay Vito when the victim alighted to look for his cellphone that fell along the way.

Another motorist identified as Christian Oreta, 22, single of Vito’s Purok Kulo, was driving behind their vehicle, sideswiping the aforementioned. He also suffered injuries and was brought to the hospital while Patiduan was left unhurt./WDJ
