A tricycle driver was waiting a passenger in front of Social Security System (SSS) office around 6:30 p.m. on Monday along Purok Bangkusay in the city’s Barangay Poblacion 2 when a man aboard a motorcycle stabbed the victim several times.
Suspect Felizardo Lepitin Jr. alias “JR,” 33, of the city’s Barangay Old Sagay, was even pacified by back-rider, his live-in partner Carla Canillo, 25, but he continued to stab the driver.
The victim, also the suspect’s neighbor Carlo “Kelly” Chavez, 35, married, tried to run but fell on the ground due to multiple stab wounds. He was rushed to nearby Lopez District Farmers Hospital but was declared dead-on-arrival by attending physician.
The suspect fled leaving his live-in partner behind but police later recovered his motorcycle at their house. Lepitin went missing together with the weapon used in the killing.
