The Western Visayas was struck by two minor earthquakes earlier this week with a 2.2-magnitude tremor detected just south of Nueva Valencia, Guimaras around 3:18 a.m. on Monday morning; followed by a 2.5-magnitude quake later that morning in San Miguel, Iloilo, striking at exactly 6:55 a.m.
According to subsequent Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology bulletins, no damage was reported as a result of the seismic activity nor were they any anticipated aftershocks.
Quakes ranging between 1.0 and 3.0 in magnitude are often classified as a Level 1 on the Mercalli Intensity Scale, where the tremor goes almost undetected./WDJ
