Around 250 ranking police personnel and anti-illegal drug operatives of Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) underwent a surprise drug testing yesterday, December 3 at ICPO office.

ICPO director, Police Colonel Martin Defensor, said the policemen including chiefs of police and their deputies spearheaded the drug test that started at 8:00 in the morning.

Other police officers from drug enforcement units and administrative officers were also tested.

Defensor said that he called for a meeting and as soon as the police gathered they were directed to undergo drug testing through the crime laboratory personnel from the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).

“This drug test is to show to the public that our police offices are drug-free,” Defensor said.

Defensor added that this activity is also in relation to the recent declaration of President Rodrigo Duterte of the relentless campaign against illegal drugs.

He said that during his stint as director since last year, no one was tested positive.

He added that those who will be found positive will face administrative case and be charged of appropriate charges, but due process will be given.

The result of the drug test is set to be released this week./WDJ
