The Philippine Dancesport team recently opened the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) at Royce Hotel and Casino in Pampanga by winning several medals over the weekend.
Sean Mischa Aranar and Ana Leonila Nualla captured three gold medals, winning the single dance tango, single dance Viennese waltz, and open standard.
“Sobrang nakakapagod pero sobrang nakakaproud dahil one year namin pinaghandaan ito (We are exhausted but very proud because we prepared for one year for this event),” Nualla said.
Meanwhile, Mark Jayson Gayon and Mary Joy Renigen bagged two gold medals in the single dance waltz and single slow foxtrot, and took silver in standard quickstep.
“It’s a balance of everything,” Renigen said. “This medal makes all the hardships worth it.”
The Philippines also earned gold medals through Wilbert Aunzo and Pearl Marie Caneda in the samba, latin discipline solo, cha-cha-cha, and solo rumba./ASC, WDJ
