City partially blames dogs for the destruction of plants

change.org petition is calling for an end to the “mercy killing” of stray dogs in Iloilo City.
“These stray dogs are suffering everyday on the streets, either by hunger, maltreatment, or abuse,” the petition notes. “These dogs deserve a second chance at a better life.”
“Be the voice for these stray dogs who cannot speak for themselves,” the petition added.
Earlier, Iloilo City veterinarian, Dr. Tomas Forteza, announced his office would be rounding up stray dogs and putting them to sleep.
Aside from humans, stray dogs are often blamed for the destruction of plants across the city.
The petition suggests, instead of euthanizing animals, the city should “increase financial and political support.”
“It would be more humane and civilized,” the petition added.
As of 7:10 p.m. last night, the number of signatures surpassed 3,750./WDJ
