Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson led the recent distribution of Negros Occidental Comprehensive Health Program (NOCHP) cards to over 2,000 residents of Candoni and Hinoba-an.
Based on records from October 31, NOCHP boasted 8,383 members from Hinoba-an and 4,525 from Candoni.
Cardholders are entitled to free outpatient care, including consultations with full course treatment and medicines; along with subsidized in-patient care at provincial government-run hospitals and other participating government hospitals.
Present for the event were Provincial Board Members Jeffrey Tubola and Valentino Miguel Alonso, Candoni Mayor Cicero Borromeo, Hinoba-an Mayor Ernesto Estrao, Sipalay City Councilor Ralph Alvarez; among others.
Last month, amid implementation of the Universal Health Care Law, it was reported that NOCHP was under review. Lacson noted, the Department of Health regional director already assured the province will receive more funds under the new law.
The governor suggested using the provincial program to cover the costs of medicine for discharged patients./WDJ
