Ilonggo taekwondo athletes medal at national championships

Iloilo MVP Taekwondo Gym athletes dominated the 2019 National Interschool Taekwondo Championships, which took place over the weekend at the Ayala Manila Bay Mall in Parañaque City. The winners earned medals from both poomsae events, which are comprised of basic attack and defense motions associated with the martial art; and kyorugi events, a demonstration of sparring.

Andria Palabrica, Samantha Gayle Go, Akimeh Demavivas, Christian Pudadera, Angela Joy Bermejo, Maria Dorothea Aquino, Kate Sheevanie Santocildes, Niña Pearl Acosta, Anna Francheska Cordova, and Jhed Morata captured gold in the kyorugi events; while Sheine Nicole De Asis, Elisha Meila Paradero, Enzo Lucio Cape, Mickael Cerbo, Gabriel Galupar, and Josh Macahilig took silver.
In addition, Jared Darien Bernadas, Katrina Mamaril, Jannah Ysabel Velez, and Raphael Pico won bronze.
In the poomsae events, Cape won gold and bronze medals. Meanwhile, Shanen Anica Feranco won gold; Palabrica, Paradero, Santocildes, Justin Adrian Apura, and Viene Marie Dulaca took silver; and Geon Ivan Dulaca and Cindy Joy Diasnes captured bronze.
Additionally, athletes from the Iloilo A. Diasnes Taekwondo Gym also picked up medals.
Among kyorugi events, Lansil Brotarlo and Kyle Chin won gold; Jeserray Frantilla, Janus Miguel Tacsagon, Franz Angelo Fernandez, Beatriz Dacpano, Ashton James Alvarez, Liam Legayada, Mariel Siscar, Kristi Siscar, and Diana Dello took silver; and Paolo Gonzalez, Ma. Krizzel Balofiños, Exiovince Albor, Justine Diasnes, Elijah Seth Nisola, Franchesca May Paredes, Rufino Antonio Barrato, and John Andrew Jabao captured bronze.
In the poomsae events, Frantilla won gold and silver, while Jan Gancero and Balofiños captured silver and bronze.
Other winners included Heleana Donton and Justin Diasnes, who took gold; Aryan Nonis, Exiovince Albor, Almar Diasnes, Airon Aguana, Mariel Angela Siscar, and Kristi Marie Siscar won silver; and Gonzales, Crizzel Ahmed, Brotarlo, Franchesca May Paredes, and Ryza Orocio were awarded bronze./ASC, WDJ
