FEU boots Adamson, advances to second UAAP women’s basketball semifinal

Far Eastern University (FEU) advanced to the second phase of the 82nd UAAP women’s basketball semifinals following their recent 79-73 win over Adamson University at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Choy Bahuyan helped secure the win after initially burying a left baseline jumper with 14.0 seconds left in the game, giving FEU a 77-73 lead, then snagging the ball on an Adamson inbound pass to lock up the victory.
“Ginusto namin eh (We wanted it),” she said. “May sense of urgency kami kanina dahil ayaw naming matalo (There was a sense of urgency because we didn’t want to lose).”
While Bahuyan finished with 11 points in the final period, on top of 13 rebounds, four assists, and two steals; Val Mamaril led FEU with 22 points, six rebounds, six assists, and three steals; Clare Castro added 18 points, 17 boards, and four blocks; and Fatima Quiapo contributed a double-double with 15 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, and two steals.
The victory sets up a clash with the University of Santo Tomas, who enters the semifinal with a twice-to-beat advantage. The two sides are set to meet today./ASC, WDJ
