The San Miguel Beermen scored a 99-96 overtime win over Blackwater Elite in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup last night at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.
June Mar Fajardo tallied 30 points and 13 rebounds for the Beermen, while Terrence Romeo chipped in 20 markers, Arwind Santos contributed 13, and Marcio Lassiter added 11.
The Beermen seemed headed to victory as they were up 88-79 after a triple by Romeo but the Elite replied with triples from Rey Mark Belo and Rommel Nino Canaleta to force the game into overtime.
Blackwater took an early lead in the extension period, 92-90, after a triple by Marqus Blakely but baskets from Fajardo and Romeo put the Beermen up 98-92.
Shots from Belo and Carl Bryan Cruz got the Elite to within 98-96 before Romeo sealed victory for the Beermen with a free throw with 0.8 seconds left./ASC, WDJ
