The 7th IMACO International Conference will formally kickoff tomorrow, beginning at 10:00 a.m., at the SMX Convention Center as SM City Bacolod. IMACO, which stands for
International Mask Arts and Culture Organization, seeks to promote mask-related culture.
The conference is held every two years.
Opening day will feature a policy forum and an academic symposium. The following day, a general assembly will be held at the Bacolod City Government Center.
Meanwhile, K-Pop boy band Rion Five is also scheduled to perform tomorrow night at 6:30 p.m. at the SM City Bacolod atrium. The group previously performed as last year’s MassKara Festival.
Debuting in 2014, the group includes Taewoo, the group’s main rapper, who appeared on the second season of “Produce 101,” which created the boy band Wanna One. Taewoo finished in 49th place.
Last year, the group made their formal debut in China as part of the group T.E.N.
They are expected to perform their song “Tuk, Tuk, Tuk,” which was originally released in 2015; along with T.E.N.’s debut single “Haeyo Haeyo.” According to a city government press release, they will also be performing various covers such as Exo’s “Love Shot,” “Boy with Luv” by BTS, Winner’s “Really Really,” and Big Bang hits “Fantastic Baby” and “Bang Bang Bang.”
Last week, IMACO unveiled a mask exhibit at SM City Bacolod, which features more than 400 masks from 22 countries, including the Philippines, South Korea, China, Thailand, and Indonesia.
The exhibit is expected to run until December 26./WDJ
