Over 80 Coca-Cola associates recently took part in a clean-up at Purok Seawall in Bacolod City’s Barangay Punta Taytay.
“Coca-Cola has been part of Bacolod for more than 70 years and activities like the International Coastal Clean-up are important to us,” explained Coca-Cola Bacolod plant manager Bernard Engada. “It is one of the many ways we can give back to the community and to the environment that we consider home.”
“We are very much committed to turning our ‘World Without Waste’ vision into a reality,” he added.
The company’s World Without Waste initiative seeks to bring communities together through a shared solid waste management plan, along with seeking to improve local waste management systems.
Earlier this year, Coca-Cola hosted a solid waste management workshop at their Bacolod City plant, which was attended by over 30 barangay and purok officials from the city’s Barangay Mansilingan.
“Zero waste means nothing is wasted if everything is managed correctly,” explained lead World Without Waste consultant Bert Guevarra. “In order to do this, proper waste management should begin with proper segregation at the source.”/WDJ
