Bago City begins their annual Cinco de Noviembre observance today, which is celebrated today in Negros Occidental and commemorates the 1898 Negros Revolution. Festivities are set to begin with a thanksgiving mass at the St. John the Baptist Church, which will be followed by a floral offering at the General Juan Araneta monument.
The day will also feature the sigabong competition, where 12 groups will reenact the historic event when Araneta led an uprising against the Spanish, and let off the loudest “sigabong” of their cannons.
The Bago City Invitational Fancy Drill competition will also take place.
Meanwhile, Bago City Mayor Nicholas Yulo will host “A Party at the Park,” along with a fireworks display, to close out the celebration.
Prior to today’s events, Geliana Abigail Perocho of Bago City Elementary School was crowned Little Miss Bago 2019./WDJ
