Ravena called up by Gilas Pilipinas

Ilonggo guard Kiefer Ravena of the NLEX Road Warriors will be making his return to the national squad as part of the Gilas Pilipinas pool for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, which is hosted by the Philippines this year and is scheduled to formally run from November 30 to December 11.
Gilas head coach Tim Cone said the Iloilo City native was added to the 15-man pool after TNT KaTropa veteran Jayson Castro was forced out due to injury.
“Coach Tim asked us if Kiefer could join the pool especially [since] Jayson couldn’t play,” Gilas team manager Gabby Cui said. “We talked to [the] Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas [and] we were cleared.”
In response, Ravena said he is confident NLEX will allow him to join the team practices despite the Road Warriors qualifying for the PBA Governors’ Cup playoffs.
“I’m pretty sure naman papayagan ako ng NLEX (I’m pretty sure NLEX will allow me),” Ravena said. “More than anything else, the decision is not [in] my hands.”
“I just have to wait,” he added. “It’s a learning opportunity for me and I’m really thankful for that.”/ASC, WDJ
