Sagay City FC captured the 2nd Marañon Youth Cup following a 2-1 win over STI-West Negros University (STI-WNU) last Wednesday at the Sagay National High School football grounds in Sagay City. Goals from Ryan Monares and Rohderick Rodriguez delivered the championship win.
Zacharry Lacson, meanwhile, scored the lone goal for STI-WNU.
Among individual awards, Sagay City FC’s Shiorenel Baril was named Most Valuable Player, while his teammate Japeth Mermida took home Best Defender.
Additionally, Chester Alipoon of STI-WNU scored the most goals in the tournament with four.
In the consolation match, Ateneo de Manila University scored a 2-0 win over Ilonggo Young Booters FC to take third place./ASC, WDJ
