Barangay Ginebra San Miguel flirted with disaster in their 101-93 victory over Blackwater Elite in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup last Wednesday at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.
After Barangay Ginebra squandered a 21-point lead with the Elite narrowing the gap to 93-89 late in the fourth period, Justin Brownlee’s triple for Barangay Ginebra, along with Japeth Aguilar scoring from the free throw line, put them back up 97-91.
Bobby Ray Parks, Jr. then made it a four-point game anew until Brownlee and Arthur dela Cruz pushed Barangay Ginebra to a 101-93 lead with 24 seconds left.
LA Tenorio, who achieved two milestones during the game by becoming the seventh player in the league to score their 1,000th triple and achieve 800 steals, tallied 20 points, seven rebounds, and five assists for Barangay Ginebra.
Also contributing to the win were Brownlee with a triple-double on 17 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists; Japeth Aguilar scored 18 points; and Stanley Pringle contributing 16./ASC, WDJ
