The Columbian Dyip halted their losing streak in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup after their 106-104 escape against the Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters last night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Khapri Alston tallied a double-double for the Dyip with 30 points and 19 rebounds, while Jaymar Perez chipped in 25 markers.
From a seesaw battle early in the game, the Dyip surged to a 28-20 edge on hits by Alston. Phoenix replied with a rally and narrowed the gap to 39-37. However, hits from Alston gave the Dyip a 52-42 halftime edge.
The Dyip went on to build their largest lead of 56-42 after a Perez hit but the Fuel Masters countered with a run and snatched a 75-73 edge heading into the fourth.
The game was tied up early in the fourth with the Dyip holding to a 92-90 edge before they pulled away behind Alston and Rashawn McCarthy for a 102-92 lead./ASC, WDJ
