A jeepney driver was arrested over the weekend after allegedly assaulting and stabbing a traffic enforcer along Lopez Jaena Street in Bacolod City.
Police identified the victim as 31-year-old Lesly Unabia, a resident of the said city; while the suspect was 59-year-old Jose Sabillano, who operates along the Shopping-La Salle-Central Market route.
Police Station 6 (PS6) commander, Police Captain Elmer Bonilla, said Unabia issued a traffic citation to Sabillano for reckless driving but the violation was later reduced to obstruction. However, despite accepting the violation and handing over his driver’s license, Sabillano allegedly assaulted Unabia.
The suspect then pulled out a screw driver and stabbed the victim.
The traffic enforcer was later rushed to the hospital after suffering wounds to his hands and feet, while Sabillano was eventually arrested.
The suspect faces criminal charges and is detained at PS6./DGB, WDJ
