Binalbagan assessment ‘straightened out’

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) recently assessed Negros Occidental’s clearing operations at 100 percent compliance. According to a report from DILG-Negros Occidental director, Atty. Ferdinand Panes, released last week, most towns were found to be at “medium” compliance.
He added, DILG’s next validation is scheduled for December with hopes evaluations improve to “high compliance.”
During an earlier validation, the DILG gave a score of 88.3 percent to the Negros Occidental provincial government for their road clearing operations across the province.
Based on the DILG reports, Bago City, Kabankalan City, San Carlos City, Silay City, Victorias City, Moises Padilla, Murcia, Toboso, and Don Salvador Benedicto were among the highest rated in the province.
Meanwhile, after Binalbagan was earlier named as the only locality in the province to fail their evaluation, the assessment has since been “straightened out” and the town is now considered compliant.
During an earlier interview, Binalbagan Mayor Alejandro Mirasol questioned the DILG over the basis of the evaluation and claimed the DILG evaluation team from Ilog gave Binalbagan an 80 percent rating.
