P1.5M turned over to local college

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) turned over P.1.499 million worth of food processing, along with packaging support for a shared service facility, to the Northern Negros College of Science and Technology in Sagay City last month.
Mayor Alfredo Marañon III said, “The new facility will benefit senior high school and college students in the agricultural and entrepreneurial track through making alternative products using the agricultural produce of Sagay City.”
Outgoing Department of Education-Division of Sagay Superintendent Marsette Sabbaluca said the development will help the city realize its dreams.
“It is our ultimate dream to make Sagay City progressive and, this, we do through human resources and empowering our people through education,” she said. “The education sector has always [been] the top priority of our city government.”
In addition, a memorandum of agreement was signed between college president Romulo Sisno and DTI-Negros Occidental head Lea Gonzales, who said, through the program, the agency seeks to assist the farmers and entrepreneurs by providing machinery and equipment./WDJ
