San Beda beats Benilde, edges closer to NCAA elimination round sweep

San Beda University edged closer to sweeping the 95th NCAA men’s basketball elimination round following their 95-73 win over De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde last Thursday at the San Juan Arena.
Calvin Oftana finished with a career-high 29 points, nine rebounds, and five assists for San Beda; James Canlas added 21 points, nine boards, and seven assists; Donald Tankoua contributed 13 points and five rebounds; and Amiel Cris Soberano scored 10 points.
Trailing 42-41 at the half, San Beda woke up in the third period with Oftana spearheading a 27-8 run, resulting in a 72-58 lead heading into the fourth period.
Meanwhile, Mapúa University scored a 90-73 victory over San Sebastian College-Recoletos./ASC, WDJ
