The Guimaras Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) recently observed “Land’s Day.” The day commemorates the ratification of Act 298, which created the Insular Bureau of Public Lands, a body tasked with managing the distribution of public land. The department later became known as the Land Management Bureau.

“The Land Management Bureau is under the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) whose main functions include the management and disposition of lands of the public domain classified as alienable and disposable lands and are categorized as either residential or agricultural lands,” explained PENR Officer Vicente A. Sardina.

A Handog Titulo program was held, where 82 land beneficiaries received land title certificates.

DENR-Region VI Executive Director Francisco E. Milla, Jr. congratulated the beneficiaries and said the program aims for “social upliftment and support for a vibrant economy and more responsive government.”/WDJ
