Sixteen teams from across Negros Occidental are expected for the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Youth Festival, which kicks off this weekend, Sunday, October 6, at the St. John Institute in Bacolod City.
“This is [an] effort to grow local talent [in] volleyball and create an avenue for more opportunities for the [youth] through playing sports,” said PVL-Bacolod City games organizer Bea Tan.
Among those expected to join the competition include teams from Pulupandan, San Carlos City, Bago City, and Silay City; along with those representing the University of St. La Salle (USLS), Bacolod Tay Tung High School, and St. John Institute.
The Under-12 event is part of the PVL Open Conference double-header scheduled to take place next weekend, October 13, at the USLS Coliseum. During that event, the PacificTown-Army Lady Troopers will meet BanKo Perlas Spikers at 2:00 p.m. while the Creamline Cool Smashers meets PetroGazz Angels later that day at 4:00 p.m.
The match will be homecoming for Creamline libero Melissa Gohing and outside hitter Fille Cainglet-Cayetano, who will be playing alongside teammates Alyssa Valdez, Michelle Gumabao, Risa Sato, Jessica Galanza, and Julia Morado.
GRID Athletic Sports Inc. is organizing the event in partnership with the PVL./ASC, WDJ
